Homeschool Mother's Journal #20: Festivals, Hikes and Workouts

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...
Well, I'm kind of surprised it's Friday already. Last night was garbage night and I thought, "HOW?! I just did this Thursday!" Yeah... I have no idea at all where the week went.  I didn't much accomplish anything that would explain how time flew like that.

I did work out every single day, as I said I was going to start doing. I have worked out no less than an hour each day and burned 3256 calories in the last week. Go me!

In our homeschool this week...

We're at the end of the 14th week of Term II.   Our studies of Florida are underway and I'm so excited. I've been planning many things to do here in our area and can't way to do them (and share them with you!). I have two hikes planned so far. I can't wait. In our nature studies, we'll be studying the Scrub Jay with the County Conservation class.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Tomorrow, we will be attending a Harvest Jamboree in another little po-dunk town around here. It promises all sorts of activities and fun, many of them educational! I'm very excited about it. Then tomorrow night, we'll be attending the Harvest Festival here in our own town at the Springs. So Saturday is completely packed with outdoor Autumn Festivals.

My favorite thing this week was…
For the first time in many years, I have no Fibromyalgia pain. As long as I work out each and every day, there is no pain. I will never stop doing this if it wards off the FMS monster.  SO thrilled to have discovered this fact. To think, all these years I avoided "straining" my muscles for fear that it would increase my pain!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

Be sure to visit other homeschool moms who our journaling this week.

But first....
What wonderful Autumn things are you doing this week?

Happy Homeschooling!

  1. Good luck on working out.  I was really good at it over the summer.  Now that it is cool weather, it is tough to do.  Though to avoid other pain I understand your motivation... :)

Stopping by from Homeschooling Journal, to say hi.

  2. Great job on all those burned calories! I REALLY need to get going on that! We walked for 2 hours on trails today...and tomorrow will be another few hours at the wildlife park. It's SO cold out now though! ;) Glad you're not in pain though!

  3. I'm actually more likely to give it up in the summer. My pain is less during warm than cold weather. As well, I don't sweat so I must be careful not to get too hot (try THAT here in Florida!). I used to work out every single day when my grown kids were younger. But then I became a single mom and it fell by the wayside for 16 years LOL

  4. Hi Jessy! That's great! We'll be going on some hikes here soon. I can't do hikes in the Florida summer but in our faux fall, it's great! :-P

  6. Thanks for coming by, Ellen. Oh if only I were paid to endorse "Just Dance 3"!!!  I have no motivation either but this game! Oh it makes it all so fun!

  7. Way to go on the workouts!  I'm trying to be motivated to work out more often.  It's so hard to find the time, especially when I'm exhausted by the end of the day.  And mornings are out of the question!  Congrats and keep up the good work!

  9. Thanks, Lexi!  The temperatures have lowered over the last 48 hours and I'm feelin' a bit of the FMS pain which is slightly demotivating. Still... I'm pushing through...

  10. RIGHT? I've always loved dancing. Used to dance all the time as a kid, teen and right up to my mid-30's. Then Scotty and I split up and ...well... I stopped dancing.  That's also about the time I started having pain. Hmmmm.... I did aerobics for many years (when I was with Michael) and loved it. Of course..that's dancing too LOL
