Homeschool Mother's Journal #24: Moving Forward!

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...
I finished the training for my job; passed the tests and have 40 hours scheduled for next week. YAY ME! And isn't it about time?! Sheesh what I've gone through lately with jobs! But it's done and life moves forward steadily.

In our homeschool this week...

We're at the end of our Term II break. We did nothing this week. We've been on break all month. We've hiked and geo-cached. We've hung out playing Just Dance 3. We've baked and visited parks. We've enjoyed being lazy and just resting. It's been good.

Term III begins on Monday. Did you see that? I said, "Term III". Wow! We're coming up to the end of our school year already! December..January...February and then break in March. Boom! April 1st begins the 2012-13 school year!  Definitely moving forward...where did the time go?

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Stop trying to be like "so and so" or equal to the public school system. Guess what.. "so and so" doesn't have it down perfect either. And if the public school system is so wonderful, you wouldn't have your kids at home, would you?  Relax, be you and let your kids be themselves. Everything else will fall into place.

My favorite thing this week was…
Finishing the training and having work hours available to me immediately. The timing couldn't be more perfect really.

I’m cooking…
I have no ideas about what I will cook this week, but I made my grandma's chocolate pie a few days ago.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

"When you want to teach children to think, you begin by treating them seriously when they are little, giving them responsibilities, talking to them candidly, providing privacy and solitude for them, and making them readers and thinkers of significant thoughts from the beginning. That’s if you want to teach them to think." -Bertrand Russel
